Luckenbach, Gillespie County, Texas USA

Approximately 100 family members and their guests gathered at the cemetery of the Brodbeck Family to unveil the Texas Historical Person marker for Jacob Brodbeck.  Guest Speakers Glen Treibs, chair of the

Gillespie County Historical Commission, and Virgil Holdman, local distiller of pertinent history at Luckenbach, held the rapt attention of the audience as they recounted and extolled the accomplishments and life of Professor Brodbeck.  Stephen Brodbeck read a proclamation from the Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, congratulating Jacob for receiving the marker.  Selected descendants then unveiled the marker for the excited onlookers.  After thousands of photographs were taken to document this event, the group then relocated to the historic Luckenbach Dance Hall for light refreshments and lively conversation.  Jacob had served as postmaster at the Post Office over 100 years ago right there in Luckenbach!
